INA – THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF WATERS

The Federal Government is presently articulating the creation of the INA – The National Institute of Waters. It was the responsibility of the Ministry of Science and Technology to form this being the 14th Institute of this technological nature existing within this organ, and which should be exclusively dedicated to public policies for the recovery, preservation and conservation of water resources in Brazil.
As well as being a partner of the ANA – National Water Agency, the INA will also be associated with UNESCO in the implantation of the Education Centers for Waters of Itaipu and of HidroEX. Furthermore, the headquarters of the INA will be subdivided into five – one for each region of the country. The headquarters for the South region will be in Itaipu and for the Southeast they will be together with HIDROEX in the City of Waters.
The decision to create the INA was born through the Government’s necessity to establish a structure linked to Science and Technology capable of grouping initiatives, conceiving public policy and implementing programs focused on the management of water resources in Brazil. It is clear from the bad distribution of water in country that the issue of management will be a challenge to be faced by the Government and society in the coming years.
The INA will also guarantee the commitment of Federal Government budgeted resources for the implementation of these actions.
